Title Changes in the Administration following the mid-term elections (1970)
Description George Bush's appointment as US Permanent Representative at the United Nations. Included is a small biography of Bush. Article on the decision to replace Charles W. Yost with Bush. Biography of Rogers C. B. Morton, the new Secretary of the Interior who replaces Walter Hickel. Resignation of Counsellors Bryce Harlow who was largely concerned with liaison with Congress which will now be handled by Clark MacGregor. Donald Rumsfeld is to be made a full time Counsellor who before combined the positions of being one of the President's Counsellors with that of being Director of the Office of Economic Opportunity. He is succeeded by Frank Carlucci. Included is a Washington Post article on Carlucci. Resignation of Daniel Moynihan, the President's Adviser on Urban Affairs. Clark MacGregor has been appointed as the Chief Adviser at the White House on relations with Congress. David Kennedy resigns and is replaced by John Connally appointed Secretary of the Treasury. Biography included. Remarks on US energy made Hollis M. Dole, Assistant Secretary Mineral resources, Department of the Interior before the Institute of Gas Technology. Peter Flanigan appointed by President Nixon as chief negotiator on textiles with Japan. Biography and articles on Flanigan included. Report on the reorganization of the White House. George Shultz currently Secretary of Labour will head new Office of Management and Budget. James D. Hodgson will replace Shultz. Resignation of Robert H. Finch as Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare is to be replaced by Elliot Richardson. Finch becomes a Counsellor to the President. Caspar W. Weinberger will become Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget replacing Robert P. Mayo who will join White House staff as a Counsellor to the President.
